New poetry book by Amalio Madueno, Lost in the Chamiso available Sept. 2006

Lost in the Chamiso, an epic poem by Amalio Madueno ( known as "Mexican Bob" of Taos Poetry Circus fame) is Madueno's first full length book, written in the spheres of both English and Spanish. That is, the book is a "Spanglish" expedition.

Published by Wild Embers Press (www.wildembers.com) Lost in the Chamiso explores the borderlands, the cultural complexities of being born Hispanic/Yaqui and being raised in a 1950's, West- Southwest America. At a time when man-made borders are pressing against complacency, Madueno takes the reader inside his world, a place where the harshness of survival becomes entwined with landscape and humour, establishing a common pathway to a mesa full Garcia and Reina Rosa love.

This book is elixir for the soul, a remedy for any who wonder where we go from here.

Sam Hamill, founding editor of Copper Canyon Press, organizer of Poets Against the War endorses the book (click here) and sister Yaqui and Hispanic author, Alma Luz Villanueva resonates with Madueno and believes his poetry brings a message to people of all nations (click here).
